Harvest Right is the default recommendation in this category, and mostly it earns that: it is the only brand with a real Australian distribution channel, Australian parts stock at published prices, and a size range with genuine steps between the models. It is also sold here on a materially worse warranty than the one advertised on its own product page, and the published specifications for the same machine do not agree between the manufacturer and the Australian distributor. Both of those are below.
Listings, specifications and warranty terms checked 10 September 2026
Read this before any specification. Every warranty figure on this page is the Australian one. Harvest Right advertises 36 months beside its US price, but Australia falls under its Limited International Warranty at 12 months from the original ship date, with telephone and email support only and parts supplied at Harvest Right's option. Local labour and the freight on parts are the owner's cost. Where a warranty is mentioned below, that is the one that applies.
Two Australian sellers list Harvest Right from Australian stock. Between them they publish 10 new listings across 3 sizes, which is the whole of the Australian Harvest Right range. Every one of them is a 240 volt machine on a 10 amp plug.

Tray area and batch weights below are Harvest Right's own published figures for each size. Harvest Right states that its 220 volt specification tables carry the same capacity, tray count, dimensions and weight as the 110 volt tables, so these apply to the Australian machine. Nothing here is converted or estimated: where Harvest Right publishes no figure, the page says so.

The step between sizes is capacity, not features. Every size sold here runs the same way, takes the same accessories and carries the same 12 month Australian warranty. What changes is tray count, tray area and wet food per cycle. A machine that is too small gets run twice as often, and a cycle is measured in days.
A note on method first. We do not publish aggregated review sentiment, star averages or quotes we cannot trace to a source a reader can open. What follows is the friction documented in the sellers' own published terms and specifications, which is checkable and is where most of the real complaints originate anyway.
The vacuum pump is the component most likely to need attention and the one an overseas manufacturer can help with least. Nobody here is nominated by Harvest Right to perform a repair, and under the 12 month Australian warranty the company's obligation is telephone and email support plus parts at its option, so in practice a part is shipped to you and you pay someone locally to fit it.
The mitigating fact is that these are ordinary industrial pumps. The Premier is an oil-sealed rotary vane unit and the oil-free is a dry scroll pump, both types an Australian vacuum workshop rebuilds routinely, and whole replacement pumps are stocked here in AUD. What no Australian company publishes is a repair price, a turnaround time or a service exchange programme for one. That comparison is in the pump register.
One pump to avoid entirely. The discontinued Standard oil pump required oil to be drained and filtered every four to five batches, and third-party sellers state it is no longer supported with parts or service. It turns up on second-hand machines. A second-hand machine also carries no manufacturer warranty at all, because the Harvest Right warranty is void for anyone who is not the original owner.
Worth recording because it is checkable and nobody else states it: Harvest Right and its Australian distributor publish different dimensions and different weights for the same machine. On the Medium, Harvest Right publishes a cabinet weight of 54 kg and the Australian listing publishes 50 kg, with the width, depth and height differing too. Both are recorded as published rather than one being picked. If the machine has to fit a bench or cupboard, measure against the Australian seller's figure and leave clearance, because the two sources do not agree.
Before committing to the brand, the comparison worth doing is against the Australian alternatives rather than against the US price, because the US listing is a different machine at a different voltage. Both are covered on the reseller page and on the US against Australia page.
Three: the PRO Medium at 5 trays, the PRO Large at 6 trays and the PRO X-Large at 7 trays, all as 240 volt machines held in Australian stock. The Small, which is the cheapest machine on the US storefront, is not sold here by any Australian seller.
Twelve months, against the three years advertised beside the US price. Australia falls under Harvest Right's Limited International Warranty, which runs one year from the original ship date, provides telephone and email support only, and supplies parts at Harvest Right's option with the owner paying local labour and freight on parts. Buying from an Australian seller adds Australian Consumer Law guarantees on top, which importing directly does not.
Harvest Right does not publish a cycle range for any individual model. The only figure it publishes is a general one for foods, 13 to 35 hours, with candy at about 2 hours. Neither Australian seller publishes a cycle time on its product pages either, so anyone quoting a precise per-model figure is not quoting the manufacturer.
No, and this surprises people. Harvest Right publishes 52 dB for the Premier oil pump and 62 dB for the oil-free scroll pump, so the oil-free upgrade is the louder of the two. What it buys is the end of oil changes, oil purchases and oil filtering, not a quieter room. No decibel figure is published for the freeze dryer cabinet itself by anyone.
